Anel signed a letter of award for installing the electrical infrastructure of Abu Dhabi International Airport, which will be the largest and the most spectacular building of Abu Dhabi. Considered the keystone of the Abu Dhabi 2030 Plan, the terminal facility has been designed to contribute to the city’s growth as a commercial and tourism center, and is expected to be completed in 2017. This project is an important part of the government’s plan to transform Abu Dhabi as a tourism center.
The MTC terminal building will be the largest building in Abu Dhabi, covering an area of 703,000 sqm, and will be the primary gateway for airlines operating to and from Abu Dhabi, as well as Etihad Airways, the country’s national flag carrier.”
The MTC Terminal project is considered as an important step of the project to improve the Abu Dhabi International Airport. Since the launch of the project in 2006, a 4,100-meter long and 60-meter wide runway and another runway for F A-380 airliners have been completed. The third terminal, which was opened in 2008 and is currently used by Etihad Airways, includes 33 check-in counters and covers an area of 70,000 sqm.
The new terminal has been designed to minimize walking distances for passengers and maximize the size of the airport apron. Designed in an X shape, the terminal’s architectural design was given its final shape after comprehensive analyses. The building currently has 39 gateways and this number can be increased to 49.
